Soldiers escorted the remains of former Guinean President Lansana Conte through Conakry for his state funeral.
President Conte's military cap was placed on his coffin. He had ruled Guinea repressively for 24 years.
Mr Conte was also credited by some with keeping his country stable. Women could be seen weeping as his cortege passed.
The chief funeral ceremony for the late leader was held at Conakry's packed national stadium. A representative of the junta which succeeded him paid tribute to his rule in a speech.
