Bishops anointed at cathedral

Llandaff Cathedral was the setting for the anointing of two new bishops in the Church in Wales.

Procession of clerics and church officials

The consecration began with a procession of about 80 senior clerics and church legal officials to the cathedral's west door.

Representatives from other Christian churches and Anglican provinces took part in the service.

The procession also included registrars, chancellors and archdeacons of the six Welsh dioceses and deans of the Welsh cathedrals.

The bishops-designate were consecrated by the Archbishop of Wales, Dr Barry Morgan, and a number of serving and retired bishops.

The doors of the cathedral are closed

The public service was preceded by bell-ringing and accompanied by the cathedral's organ and choir.
