Voters are turning out in record numbers to cast their ballots early this election season. Up to one-third of all ballots are expected to be cast before election day.
Voters in Florida have experienced waits of up to one hour outside the polls.
California voters have been able to vote since 6 October. Lines have remained steady outside of the polls since then. The early votes will not be counted until 4 November.
The increase in early voting could help Senator Barack Obama, as many early voters appear to be Democrats.
In the past, early voters have tended to be Republican. But in swing states like North Carolina, early voting by Democrats is up by 400% since 2004.
In past elections, up to one in five voters has decided which way to vote in the last few weeks before election day.
