In pictures: Pavarotti concert

The ancient site of Petra in Jordan was the backdrop for a concert and memorial for opera legend Luciano Pavarotti.

Surviving Three Tenors Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo performed together for the first time since the death of Pavarotti in September 2007.

Sting performed at the concert and spoke of Pavarotti's "huge generosity".

The Police star, along with his wife Trudie Styler, also delivered an empassioned tribute to the Italian star.

Pavarotti's widow Nicoletta Mantovani and the couple's daughter Alice were in Jordan for the event.

Singers Andrea Bocelli and Angela Gheorgiou were pictured rehearsing for their concert performance.

The archaeological site was transformed into a stage for a concert on what would have been Pavarotti's 73rd birthday.
