At least 20 people have been killed in two separate suicide bomb attacks targeting Shia Muslim mosques in the east of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, police have said.

Police say the explosions were targeted at Shia worshippers who had just performed prayers for Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the month of Ramadan.

The Iraqi government had warned that militants might strike during the holiday, which Shia Muslims in Iraq began celebrating on Thursday.
