Catherine Balet, 48, is up for the £12,000 prize with Ines Connected with Amina, depicting two teenagers online.

Quints (Lottie Davies)

Lottie Davies's portrait, Quints, is part of a series on early childhood memories and nightmares. The winner of the prize will be announced on 4 November.
