The Great British Duck Race

About 250,000 blue plastic ducks filled a 1km (0.6 mile) stretch of the River Thames near Hampton Court Palace, London, on Sunday for the Great British Duck Race to raise money for charity.

Osbaston House fire: Photo Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service

This image, released this week, shows the fire at Osbaston House in Maesbrook, Shropshire, thought to have been started by owner Christopher Foster after he had killed his wife Jill and daughter Kirstie.

Rainbow in Devon

A rainbow formed during heavy rain and showers at Lynmouth, in Devon, on Tuesday, as the South West experienced a wet end to summer.

Giant spider

A giant mechanical spider hangs from the side of the Concourse Tower in Liverpool. The 50ft (15.2m) high creature is currently appearing at different locations around the city.

Oliver Cromwell statue

A ceremony was held on Wednesday to mark the 350th anniversary of the death of Oliver Cromwell. About 60 people gathered at the foot of the statue outside the Palace of Westminster, in London.

John Delaney

On Thursday it emerged that John Renehan had been reunited with his father John Delaney (pictured) five years after he thought he had been cremated. Mr Delaney went missing in 2000.

Newcastle United supporters

Newcastle United fans demonstrated outside St James' Park on Thursday after manager Kevin Keegan resigned.

Queue for filling station

Cars queued up to receive free petrol during an Electronic Arts promotion for a new computer game on Friday. About £20,000-worth of fuel was given away at the garage in Finsbury Park, north London.
