Jeff Drogemuller is a co-chair of the River Yatco Wetland Landcare Group and a third-generation irrigator in this community.
This is a dry lagoon bed on the Yatco, with a stone wall in the background - an example of part of the process involved in restoring the wetland.
Monitoring the surface water quality is also an important part of the restoration process.
Even though there is less water in the lagoon, there has been little reduction in bird, fish and animal life on the Yatco, says Sheridan Alm.
