Walthamstow Stadium

Spectators circled the track during the last ever race meet at Walthamstow Stadium, east London, on Saturday. After 75 years, the greyhound track will be demolished for new housing.

A 4x4 vehicle which slid about 250ft (76m) down a slope near Holne, in Devon, on Sunday, managed to stay upright. It is thought it had been left with the handbrake off.

Royal Horseguards Hotel

On Sunday it was announced that London's Royal Horseguards Hotel, used by the Secret Service in World War I, is to get a £16.3 million refit.

Coach crash

On Monday one man died and 71 others were injured when a coach carrying migrant workers crashed into a garden and overturned near Alton Towers, in Staffordshire.

Bear with hubcap

It emerged this week that an American Black Bear at Woburn Safari Park, in Bedfordshire, stole a car hubcap then took it to the driver behind - who had had her own hubcaps stolen only weeks before.

Conchita the monkey

Conchita a mangabey monkey, photographed at London Zoo on Wednesday, has been hand reared with the aid of a teddy bear as a substitute mother after it failed to bond with its real mother.

Adrian Sudbury

Journalist Adrian Sudbury, 27, who wrote a blog about his cancer battle and campaigned for more awareness of bone marrow donation, died on Wednesday. The Prime Minister said he was a "true hero".
