The Question Time panel auditions began with a meeting of this year's Schools Question Time student producers to discuss the judging criteria.

The students discussed the fact that the people's panellist must be able to be challenged on their views and have an opinion on a range of subjects.

The studio at BBC Millbank was prepared for the Question Time debate with David Dimbleby as the host.

The Question Time panel audition

Topics discussed in the audition included the 42-day terror detention issue, knife crime and whether the voting age should be lowered.

During the debate each of the panellists had a chance to have their say and also respond to questions from the audience.
