Disney's award-winning film-turned-musical The Lion King is now in its ninth year at the Lyceum Theatre, where it remains one of London's most popular musicals.
Thirteen new cast members, including new performers in the principal roles of Simba, Mufasa, Scar, Nala and Zazu, are currently in rehearsal and will join the rest of the 46-strong cast on 22 April.
The Lion King is the powerful and moving story of Simba's epic journey from wide-eyed cub to King of the Pridelands.
Andile Gumbi has already played Simba in productions around the world, including Melbourne, Shanghai and Johannesburg.
Shaun Escoffery, who plays Mufasa, was nominated for an Olivier award for his performance in Parade at the Donmar Warehouse.
Welsh-born actor Cameron Pow played the role of Zazu in the US touring company for five years.
Gloria Onitiri - who plays Nala - was part of the 2002 company, and returns after starring in the London production of Avenue Q.
George Asprey joins the cast as the villainous Scar. Asprey is a regular face on TV, stage and screen, and recently played Billy Flynn on stage in Chicago. (Photos: Johan Persson)
