Tens of thousands of people flocked to Cucuta on Colombia's border with Venezuela for a free concert designed to promote unity between the two nations.
The "Peace Without Borders" stage was erected on the bridge linking the two countries.
The idea for the concert came from Colombian singing star Juanes (right) in response to recent tensions provoked by a Colombian raid on rebels inside Ecuador.
Fans from Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador, were determined to show their desire for peaceful relations between the three Andean neighbours.
They were also there to hear great music by some of the best-known Spanish-language performers.
Police were on hand to spray some welcome water on the fans as they danced in the heat of the day.
Diplomatic tensions between Colombia and its neighbours had eased days earlier giving an added carnival feel to the show.
Juanes (centre) was at pains to stress that the event should be seen as a celebration of music and unity not a political event...
...a sentiment with which many of those present seemed to agree.
