A host of music stars have been inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, including Madonna, who was honoured by Justin Timberlake.

Dave Clark Five and Tom Hanks

The surviving members of the Dave Clark Five were inducted by actor Tom Hanks. The British band were one of the successful 1960s US "invasion" bands.

Billy Joel

Musician Billy Joel introduced singer John Mellencamp, and said the rocker was lucky to still be here.

Iggy Pop

Veteran rock star Iggy Pop was on hand to perform on Madonna's behalf, finishing with a flourish from Like A Virgin.

Joan Jett

Rock star Joan Jett performed at the ceremony in a tribute to British stars the Dave Clark Five.

Patti LaBelle
