Work on a £4,000 house in southern Scotland started in 2004. The first step was to put in place the stone foundations to the building. All pictures courtesy envisioneer.net
Once the foundations were in place it was possible to put joists in position to ensure a firm base for the building
The walls of the unusual property were made up of about 200 straw bales
Disaster struck the project in 2005 when water damage - due to tarpaulin failure - left the building in a sorry condition
Window frames slotted well into the straw structure
The rafters were designed to be visible inside the building once it was completed
After the second set of walls was completed the turf roof was able to be added to the structure
The house cuts a distinctive figure from the outside
Inside, the £4,000 home boasts a stove, water supplied by rainfall and gets its electricity from a car battery
