Hillary Clinton has revived her faltering campaign to be the Democratic White House nominee with a projected hat-trick of primary wins in the states of Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island.

Four states voted - including Vermont - and the result on the Republican side confirmed Arizona Senator John McCain as his party's nominee.

Illinois Senator Barack Obama beat former first lady Mrs Clinton in the Vermont primary.
