Inter-tribal murders and brutal violence continue to plague Kenya in the aftermath of last month's disputed presidential elections.
Homes and churches have been burned down, forcing people to flee as political tensions stoke old grievances.
Worshippers continued to celebrate their Sunday service at a damaged church in the Kibera slum of Nairobi.
But in the Mathare slum, the violence continued, with mobs attacking and killing individuals in the street.
Armed police have been out in force, but opposition leaders have accused them of allowing attacks.
There have also been many reports of police shooting and killing protesters.
These officers helped carry away a man who was attacked by a crowd in the Mathare slum. Mobs have armed themselves with improvised weapons, machetes and bows and arrows.
Some residents can only watch helplessly as neighbours' properties are set alight.
Others try to collect enough water to douse the flames.
Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan is to join international mediation efforts which hope to end the cycle of violence.
But even if peace is fully restored soon, thousands who have already lost their homes will still be in makeshift camps. (All these photos were taken by Getty photographer Uriel Sinai.)
