Dozens of Pakistanis have been killed by a suicide bombing in a mosque near Peshawar in North West Frontier Province.
Authorities said many more were injured as the blast hit worshippers celebrating the festival of Eid al-Adha.
The latest act of violence came as the nation prepares for January elections.
It is thought the target was Aftab Sherpao (centre), a minister in the outgoing government, who was among the congregation and visited the wounded afterwards.
Security officials and relatives were left surveying the uncollected possessions of those in the mosque at the time of the bombing.
Villagers dug graves to prepare for the burial of the victims. Correspondents say it is unusual for militants to carry out attacks during Eid.
