A gunman has gone on the rampage in a shopping centre in Omaha, in the US state of Nebraska.
The incident took place inside the Von Maur department store, which was reportedly packed with Christmas shoppers.
Eight people were killed and five wounded before the gunman turned the gun on himself, committing suicide.
Police were first notified of the incident by a phone call from inside the Westroads Mall.
As the firing broke out shoppers and staff took refuge where they could. This group hid inside a metal storage container.
Many waited anxiously outside.
This little boy was separated from his mother in the panic as people fled, but was safely reunited with her later.
A candle light vigil was later held at Omaha's St John's Parish. The red candles were placed for those killed in the shooting, while the blue candles represented the injured.
People comforted each other during the service, praying for those who died in the attack.
