In pictures: Children in Need

One of the first acts to appear on this year's BBC Children in Need was Lee Mead, star of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Actor John Barrowman, star of the Torchwood sci-fi series, sang a version of Elton John's Your Song, accompanied by Myleene Klass on piano.

Children in Need host Terry Wogan lent a hand to help sort out Lee Mead's Technicolor dreamcoat.

Kylie Minogue thrilled the audience with a performance of her latest single.

Her former Neighbours co-star, Jason Donovan, strapped on his guitar to entertain the Children in Need audience.

Leona Lewis also appeared, days after her song Bleeding Love became the biggest-selling single of the year so far.

Myleene Klass used her classical piano skills to play a version of Elton John's Your Song for actor John Barrowman to sing.

It was not just singers who took to the stage - also taking part in Children in Need were the X Factor judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Dannii Minogue.

Soul singer Joss Stone got the crowd going with her trademark powerful voice.
