A record number of crosses were planted this year in the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey.
Each of the wooden crosses was decorated with a poppy and bore the name of a fallen soldier.
The Royal British Legion said 29,000 of the symbols for lost loved ones were planted - a rise of 3,000 on last year.
Veterans came to pay their respects to the fallen.

For some, the ceremony brought back poignant memories.
A two-minute silence in honour of the fallen was observed.
Some of the larger crosses bore the number of coalition forces killed in the Iraq conflict.
The Duke of Edinburgh led the opening ceremonies.
One of the veterans he talked to was Colour Sgt Keith Nieves, of the 1st Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment. He was wounded by a mine strike on his vehicle while serving in Afghanistan.
