These are three of 48 Pakistani paramilitary troops captured this week in the northern district of Swat. The army sent 2,500 reinforcements there last week.

The militants are demanding that Sharia law be introduced in Swat. Their leader broadcasts anti-government and anti-Western propaganda on local radio.
