At the Techshare conference in London the latest hand-held video magnifiers - like the Optelec Compact+ were on show. This one has a 'snapshot' feature to freeze the display.

Workers who have difficulty using photocopiers may find the Xerox Copier Assistant helpful. Its small display is shown on a monitor and audio output is also available.

The Acrobat video camera can be used for distance viewing, close work like reading and self-viewing to enable vision-impaired people to perform tricky tasks, like applying make-up.

The Orion Webbox uses a broadband or cable connection to download audio from sources like talking book libraries and radio stations. The makers say that it is very simple to use.

The Victor Reader Stream also manages audio content. It is the size of a deck of cards and connects to a PC to transfer DAISY audio books, MP3s and e-documents stored to SD cards.

The Quicklook Zoom is a handheld video magnifier. It enlarges between 3 and 18 times in 10 steps. It has 56 colour combinations as well as being able to freeze the display.
