In Pictures: 40 years of carnival
|
St Pauls Carnival in Bristol has been running since 1967, with a break in 2006.
By the 1970s, the event, which celebrates the African and Caribbean community, was growing in its popularity.
And in the 1990s bands and dancing took centre stage.
The parades, including this one from 2000, have always been colourful events.
Now more than 1,000 people take part in what has become an annual street party.
Organisers said the event attracts about 40,000 people a year.
