Every two years, Whitehaven hosts a maritime festival, which attracts around 300,000 visitors - this year was no exception
The BBC roadshow had to compete with plenty of noise too - with a brass band in full swing nearby
In the air, the Red Arrows were also in town to show off their flying skills
While on water, a cluster of tall ships were regularly involved in mock battles using deafening cannons
However, a couple of pirates managed to take time off from looting in order to visit the tent
It's life but not as we know it - aliens also had a go at the various broadcasting roles
Despite all the noise, it was 'action stations' at the TV news gallery in the main tent
And our technical team were on hand to make sure no sea water or gunpowder scuppered any broadcasts
Plenty of visitors defied the noise to produce top-class radio bulletins
Whitehaven's town cryer was on hand to announce the BBC tent's presence at the festival
No maritime festival is complete without an impressive array of fireworks across the harbour every evening
