Nuno Mathias took these photographs of the controlled explosion of an abandoned hotel in Maputo, Mozambique.
It was initially built to be a hotel 30 years ago but was never completed. It was just a concrete shell without walls or windows.
The advanced degradation of building meant it could not be used and it had to be destroyed.
Nuno Mathias is a Portuguese diplomat who has been based in Mozambique for the last three years. He took the pictures from the terrace of his apartment.
Mr Mathias says the building was horribly ugly and dominated the landscape of the bay at Maputo.
Mr Mathias has read rumours in the press that a new US Embassy may be built on the site. You can also send your photos to yourpics@bbc.co.uk.
