Actor Gareth Hunt, who has died aged 65, was known to a generation of TV viewers as Mike Gambit from The New Avengers.
The follow-up to the 1960s series The Avengers also featured the original series' leading man Patrick Macnee. But it made stars of Hunt and Joanna Lumley.
Among the roles which brought him to prominence was this part in the 1974 Doctor Who adventure Planet of the Spiders, with Jon Pertwee and John Dearth.
Hunt (top right) also starred in ITV drama Upstairs, Downstairs, where he played footman Frederick Norton.
The 1990s saw him star in BBC sitcom Side By Side, about two mismatched surburban neighbours.
Hunt enjoyed a career revival as the 21st Century began. His rogueish charm secured him a part as hitman Ritchie Stringer in EastEnders.
He also took up a part in the short-lived ITV daytime soap Night and Day.
Hunt joined Anthea Turner to send himself up in 2003 BBC Two comedy Absolute Power, when he asked two unscrupulous spin doctors for help in boosting his career.
