The stricken Marine 1 is being towed to the Mauritanian coast, along with the hundreds of migrants it is carrying, Spanish officials say.

The migrants are believed to have intended to reach Spain's Canary Islands and come from Asia and Africa but it is not clear which countries.

It has been in limbo for a week - one man could not wait any longer and jumped into the sea, before being picked up and taken ashore.
