Alleged bomber Yassin Omar, seen on CCTV footage, is accused of trying to set off a bomb at Warren Street station.
Mr Omar, 26, is one of six defendants who deny attempting to detonate bombs on 21 July 2005.
More than 300 scared passengers burst from the underground train after an apparent explosion.
David Johnson, the train manager who was standing on the platform, said he had never witnessed such hysteria.
A number of passengers described the acrid burning smell of what they believed was a bomb.
CCTV footage showed the defendant bolting up the escalator.
Mr Omar is also said to have jumped over ticket barriers at the station.
Mr Omar denies charges of conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to cause explosions likely to endanger life.
