A wave of bomb attacks and blasts have shaken the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, killing at least 85 people and wounding scores of others.
One attack was aimed at the city's Mustansiriyah University where students were struck as they left classes at the end of the day, scattering their textbooks among the debris.
Reports said that many female students were among those who died when a suicide bomber and a car bomb exploded.
Earlier, twin bombs blasts ripped through a motorcycle market in Baghdad's mainly Shia Bab al-Sheik neighbourhood.
The attacks came as the UN said that more than 34,400 Iraqis had died in 2006.
