A huge fire broke out on Sunday at a fireworks factory near Lewes in East Sussex, killing two fire crew members.

This dramatic shot of huge clouds of smoke was captured by Ben Bailey just after emergency services were called out on Sunday afternoon.

Valerie Carus, of the Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare, who took this picture, reported hearing a huge bang at 1500 GMT on Sunday.

A 200-metre exclusion zone was set up around the Festival Fireworks depot, one of the UK's biggest importers of fireworks.

Chaplain at fire

A police chaplain visited the scene where the two men died and another 12 were injured. Residents from the area spent the night at a local college.

Several buildings on the site were destroyed in an explosion and others were badly damaged by fire.

Police and fire officers said they expected their investigation into the cause of the fire to take "many weeks".
