Africa in pictures: Relaxing

Pernille Baerendtsen's photograph of a man resting on a bench in Uganda is the first of a series of shots showing people relaxing in Africa sent in by BBC News website readers.

Pernille Baerendtsen also shot this scene showing other men relaxing in the same town - Adjumani in northern Uganda.

Charles Onyeama sent in this snap of a man sleeping off a hot Friday afternoon on Fajara Beach in The Gambia.

Here, school children hang around during their lunch break in Soweto, South Africa as seen by Marion Edwards.

Robert Mooney took this picture of a woman taking some time out to fan herself while sitting in the shade near a bustling market in Banjul.

"The animals of Africa also like to relax - these crocs were so calm that I touched one without provoking the slightest reaction," says Robert Mooney who also took this picture.

And these two boys were snapped taking it easy after Muslim prayers by Robert Mooney while in Senegal's capital Dakar.

John Sampson spied this little one peacefully napping as West Africa's biggest market in Kumasi in Ghana bustled madly in the background.

Stan Beanland took this photograph of Marion Edwards swinging and snoozing in a hammock in Madagascar.
