In pictures: Milan Fashion Week

The eyes of the fashion world are on Milan, as leading designers show off creations for spring/summer 2007.

Against a rumbling dispute over whether models are too thin, designer Elena Miro was unafraid to use "normal-sized" women to model her collection.

But slender women were certainly in evidence on the catwalks, despite suggestions Milan might ban designers from using thin models.

Backstage the pace has been frenetic, with make-up artists preparing the models to take to the catwalk.

In the audience, key players in the fashion industry, such as Anna Wintour, editor of US Vogue, cast their eyes over the prospects for 2007.

Italian fashion powerhouse Prada used soft, flowing fabrics as the centrepiece of its collection, judged "sensuous" and "feminine" by observers.

Italian designer Enrico Coveri used bright colours and patterns in his collection.

Some designs, such as this Clips gown worn by Israeli model Bar Refaeli, girlfriend of film star Leonardo DiCaprio, followed classic conventions.

Others, like this ensemble from the Seduzioni Diamonds Valeria Marini show, appeared less practical.
