Prime Minister Tony Blair headed for the Middle East on Saturday, fresh from a week of political infighting in the Labour Party.
Mr Blair's first port of call was Israel, where he met the country's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
Controversially, Mr Blair also met the families of Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev - the two Israeli troops whose kidnapping sparked a 34-day conflict with Lebanon.
Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas hosted Mr Blair in Ramallah. Both Mr Abbas and Mr Olmert have agreed to an unconditional meeting to try to resolve long-standing territorial disputes.
A British woman called Kirsty registered her disapproval at Mr Blair's foreign policy, sporting a T-shirt with the slogan "ashamed to be British" during a press conference.
The UK prime minister's trip to Lebanon sparked angry protests from thousands of Lebanese, aggrieved at what they see as the UK's pro-Israel bias.
Mr Blair reiterated the UK's position supporting a UN resolution to end the conflict with Israel during a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora.
Mr Blair's convoy rolled on through specially-cleared streets in the Lebanese capital Beirut on the third day of his trip.
