Police said the event had been largely trouble free
The police have spent 12 months preparing for the carnival and were using 11,000 police shifts to provide cover
The multi-cultural event is now in its 42nd year
Bands are one of most well known features of the west London event
Police say more than 500,000 people attended the carnival on Monday
Performers have worked on the costumes and routines throughout the past year
