Eight railway workers in the Israeli city of Haifa died after rockets fired from Lebanon hit the train depot where they were working.

At least 20 people were also injured by the rocket, just one of at least 17 which landed in the city.

At Ramam hospital relatives of those caught up in the attack gathered for news. This woman collapsed upon hearing that her brother had been killed.

The streets of Tiberias, another Israeli city which has been hit by Hezbollah rockets in recent days, are empty for fear of further attacks.

It is a similar scene in Beirut, which has continued to be pummelled by Israeli warplanes.

The vital al-Jieh power station was set alight in one air raid. Firefighters had to appeal to local residents for help after their water supplies ran out.

Fearful that Israel will carry out further raids after the attack on Haifa, many residents, especially those in southern Beirut, have decided to flee.

Many have moved to makeshift shelters in other parts of the city, like this father who has taken his children to a school.

Others are heading to the border with Syria, although, with Israeli jets targeting roads in the border zone, this has become an increasingly dangerous enterprise.
