One of the Ben Nevis gondolas is believed to have slid into another while travelling up the mountain

People were trapped in cars on the wire as the system came to a halt, one car involved in the collision fell to the ground

Emergency services rushed to the area of the hillside where the gondola car fell

Five people who were inside the fallen gondola were taken to hospital for treatment

The walking wounded were helped from the mountain by experienced rescue teams

A Royal Navy helicopter helped airlift those stuck to the bottom of the mountain
