Israel is pressing on with its offensive in Gaza, launched last week to try to free a captured Israeli soldier.

Its forces have carried out a wave of air strikes on Gaza, hitting targets Israel says are linked to militants.

Israel has also targeted militants themselves, killing at least seven since the offensive began.

Palestinian groups have vowed to resist any large-scale Israeli invasion of Gaza.

Militants believed to be holding the soldier have demanded the release of Palestinian prisoners - a move rejected by Israel.
