Romania's capital Bucharest saw its second-ever gay rights march on Saturday.
Transvestites trailed the event by offering magazines to the public in Bucharest.
They laughed off homophobic posters on walls of the city where homosexuality was only decriminalised in 2001.
Hundreds of protesters, among them devout Christians, turned out to oppose the march.
Some protesters brandished placards condemning homosexuality.
When some protesters became aggressive, clashes erupted with riot police.
