Thousands of demonstrators have gathered in Washington and several other US cities to demand an end to violence in the Sudanese region of Darfur.
Demonstrators from across the social, political and religious spectrum converged on the National Mall in the US capital.
The Sudanese community was well-represented. Celebrities, lawmakers and prominent activists were also in attendance.
Ethiopian-born US singer Wayna performed to the crowd.
Actor George Clooney, who has recently returned from visiting refugee camps in Darfur with his father, called the situation "the first genocide of the 21st century".
Democrat Senator Barack Obama said if Americans acted on Darfur the world would follow.
