Hundreds of thousands of people joined rallies across the US on Monday in defence of immigrants' rights.

Atlanta saw one of the biggest rallies which were dominated by Latinos.

Demonstrators used symbols of US justice and compassion like the Statue of Liberty.

With most of the immigrants Latinos, many of the rallies featured Christian symbols.

Texas, which borders Mexico, saw some impassioned protests on Monday.

Ethnic Chinese demonstrators joined the protests in Philadelphia.

Production fell at factories in states like Nebraska as workers joined the protest.

The protesters are appealing for the kind of chances earlier generations of immigrants had in the US.
