Tom Jones was born in Treforest, Pontypridd, in 1940 and began singing as a schoolboy.

Sir Tom has sold millions of records during his career and was awarded an OBE in 1999.
The singer was invested under his real name, Thomas Woodward.
Sir Tom said accepting the knighthood was a "great and humbling honour".
