In pictures: Britain's Arctic weather

Wintry weather descended on parts of Britain on Thursday. Snow fell at Audlem in Cheshire (Picture: Amy).

The bizarre site of snow on the beach greeted residents of Rhos on Sea (Picture: Colin Hazelden).

Scotland bore the brunt of the icy blast. This picture was taken by Helen Copus at Kemnay, Aberdeenshire.

"I took this photo whilst out walking the dogs near my house in Alford, Aberdeenshire," said Kate Usher.

This wintry scene of the Trent and Mersey Canal, at Rode Heath, was taken by Mike Armston.

"This was the weather we woke up to in Crugybar, Llanwrda, Carmarthenshire," said Rick Andrews.
