A plane has skidded off a runway in Chicago, hitting two cars. A six-year-old boy died and several people were hurt.
The Southwest Airlines plane tore through a perimeter fence and onto the road.
Emergency services rushed to the scene. Officials said runway conditions at the time were acceptable despite seven inches (18cm) of snow on the day.
The 98 passengers and five crew escaped using inflatable chutes and the rear stairway.
Witnesses have said the front landing gear collapsed as the plane tried to land in the early hours.
Chicago's Midway airport has been closed while investigations continue into what caused the incident.
