In pictures: Nigerian plane crash

The Nigerian Bellview plane which crashed on Saturday came down so hard it left a large crater in the ground.

Despite initial talk of survivors, all 117 people on board the flight from Lagos to Abuja perished.

At the crash site, there is a strong smell of decaying bodies.

Rescue workers have been clearing the shattered remains of the Boeing 737 plane which crashed soon after take-off from Lagos.

Rescuers also had the gruesome job of gathering the remains of the victims.

It is not yet clear what caused the crash.
