A powerful earthquake has struck north-eastern Japan, cutting power supplies, causing a landslide, and triggering two small tsunamis.
The quake, with a magnitude of 7.2, destroyed some buildings in Miyagi prefecture, and injured dozens of people.
In the coastal city of Sendai, part of the roof of a public pool collapsed onto the swimmers below.
At least 15 people were injured in the incident.
Elsewhere in Sendai, and further afield, people suffered more minor effects from the quake.
High-speed train services in parts of northern Japan were suspended when the news broke...
...and passengers at trains and airports were subject to delays as services were cancelled or postponed.
