Brady Haran said: "Although it is quite industrial, I like the view and living in the city is very convenient. But my vigil highlighted a few of the drawbacks of life in the city."
Students

"It seems hardly a night goes by when groups of very loud students stagger home from the city's nightclubs. I'm a heavy sleeper, but they often wake me up as they yell in the laneway below my flat."

Brady says: "Sunday night always fills with me with dread. A fleet of boy racers take over the city and make a racket until after midnight. The roundabout below my window is one of the loudest spots on their city-wide circuit."
Police cars

"The police always seem to be keeping an eye on the situation on Sunday nights, but they certainly don't do anything that alleviates the noise."

"I wouldn't describe myself as an environmentalist, but I do wonder what is coming out of all those factories I see in the distance."
Masts

"I also wonder about all those mobile phone masts across the street."
Rubbish

"Being up high in a flat offers a different perspective on the places where people dump their rubbish."
City Ground at night
9 of 10
Brady says: "I actually like seeing Nottingham's two football stadiums (City Ground and Meadow Lane) on the horizon, although I know a few light pollution campaigners who would be upset by this photo."
