More than 200,000 people gather in Edinburgh for a firework display and concert to close the city's annual arts festival.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe bucks the economic downturn by setting new box office records and selling 1.86m tickets.

This year's Edinburgh Fringe comedy award is won by Tim Key for his poetry and variety show The Slutcracker.
