The nominations for the 74th Academy Awards are announced on Tuesday and there are bound to be plenty of talking points among them.

Katy Haber is ideally placed to comment on this year's nominations.

As Bafta's managing director in Los Angeles, she works closely with the film world's movers and shakers.

She is also a respected producer, working as production executive on Ridley Scott's classic sci-fi movie, Blade Runner.

This year's Oscars look set to be one of the most closely contested in many years with Lord of the Rings dominating the nominations.

How will the Brits fare at this year's Oscars? Can a musical win the award for best film? Will it be the year of the Rings?
