Out of the ashes: Live from New York
How has New York and America coped with the tragedy of 11 September?

From Monday 10 December until 14 December BBC News Online is reporting live from New York, its state and neighbours on the lasting impact of the events of the past three months.

We will be taking an in depth look at the lives of those affected, what kind of city New York has become and where it goes from here.

BBC News Online will be live in Warwick, New York at 1330 GMT (0830 EST) on Monday 10 December to meet members of a community deeply affected by the events of 11 September.

Our guests include a teenager who lost her father, a city fireman, a chaplain and town officials.

The aftermath

Three months on from disaster, what is the scene now at Ground Zero, the remains of the World Trade Center?

BBC News Online will be talking to those with first hand experience of the work to date - and the task that still remains.

Since 11 September emergency teams and demolition experts have cleared thousands and thousands of tonnes of rubble from the site.

At the same time, they have recovered the remains of as many people as they could - but many more will never be found.

For the first time in more than a generation, America's young people are experiencing what it is like to be at war.

We'll be live at a school that saw in full view what was happening in Manhattan.

What will be the lasting impact on a generation of children growing up in a changed America? Will they feel safe the way their parents' generation did?

We'll be asking young people, their teachers and parents what they think of what has happened and how they view the war in Afghanistan.
