  • 20 May: Lazio steps up for NY Senate race
    Republican Congressman Rick Lazio announces his candidacy for New York's US Senate seat, a day after mayor Rudolph Giuliani pulled out of the race. Mr Giuliani was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the beginning of May.

  • 23 May: Arkansas Primary, Idaho Republican Primary, Kentucky Primary
